We have several exciting opportunities for suitably qualified Registered Nurses (Grade 2) in our Special Care Nursery. Reporting to the Maternity Unit Manager, the Registered Nurse will demonstrate competence in the provision of nursing care, make decisions regarding patient care and actively participate in quality improvement activities. The successful applicant will be required to work on a 24/7 rotational roster. Shifts patterns also include a trial of 12 hour shifts on an opt in basis. We have permanent part time, full time and casual positions available with hours negotiated upon appointment.
Our Maternity service provides pregnancy care to up to 1000 women and their families per year. Staff have the ability to rotate throughout the service on a daily basis to optimise continuity of care, and working within your full scope of practice. Staff are supported by our education team with one-on-one learning, in-service education and tailored learning as necessary.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Demonstrated sound level of midwifery skills and works within safe practice principles
- Understanding of and commitment to the Baby Friendly Health Initiative (BFHI)
- Understanding of current midwifery practice, including the Department of Health’s Victorian Maternity and Newborn Services Framework
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Minimum of 3-5 Years’ experience, post registration in the provision of care in a Special Care Nursery or similar environment.
- Post graduate qualifications in neonatal care or working towards the same.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Be flexible to meet the daily requirements and changing needs of the Maternity Unit.
IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare sector are required to be fully (3 doses) vaccinated for COVID-19 and influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.

We are seeking expressions of interest from motivated, experienced and enthusiastic Nurses to provide clinical support to our Perioperative/Theatre team with a focus on Graduates and Postgraduate participants. This is a Fixed-term part-time position from January 2024 until November 2024. This would entail working with the Learning and Development Unit to provide support to our Clinical Educators within clinical areas via hands-on teaching, mentoring and guidance to all Nurses including Graduate Nurses, Postgraduate Nursing students and Registered Nurses to develop further:
- Supernumerary supported time in a range of settings
- Support for the acquisition of clinical skills
- Supporting continuing professional development
- Providing clinical supervision
- Supporting formal education programs
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate an interest in clinical education and support of students and Graduates, as well as holding multiple clinical competencies. This stimulating role would suit an experienced Theatre Nurse who has clinical expertise in this speciality and is flexible, solutions-focused, committed to quality, willing to accept a challenge and enjoys working within a team that is dedicated to providing great service to their client group.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
- Extensive post-registration clinical experience in the area of Theatre, no less than 5 years post-registration.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Perioperative services or like
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or relevant tertiary qualification in education
- Demonstrated experience in clinical education, development and preceptoring
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in education/clinical education
The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel
IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare sector are required to be fully (3 doses) vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.

We are well aware our hospital is aging but are excited at the news that our new state-of-the-art hospital and public aged care facility is coming. A 23.6 hectare site at Lardners Track in Drouin East was acquired by West Gippsland Healthcare Group for a future hospital back in 2007. The new hospital is set to feature 233 beds and 33 emergency department treatment spaces as well as aged care and an expanded maternity facility.

All appointments with the West Gippsland Healthcare Group are subject to the satisfactory return of professional reference checks, an NDIS worker screening clearance and a current Employee Working with Children Check. All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia. A six-month probationary period applies to all new appointments.
