Permanent Part Time – up to 20 hours per fortnight

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the West Gippsland Healthcare Group in the role of the Allied Health Assistant (AHA) as part of Allied & Community Health. Reporting to the Dietetics / Speech Pathology Manager, you will work primarily alongside the Dietitians / Speech Pathologists with the role of assisting with group or individual programs for clients attending the Allied Health department and providing feed assistance and performing nutrition screens to inpatients under the direction of the Allied Health Professionals. The role may also include providing support and administrative assistance, equipment tracking and cleaning duties, resource preparation, ordering of stock, data collection and entry.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Recognised Allied Health Assistant Certificate III, IV or equivalent qualification
- Experience in the delivery of individual therapy programs or group programs under the guidance of Allied Health Professionals
- Experience in provision of therapy support services
- Experience working as part of a team
- Experience in general administration /clerical duties

- Sound knowledge base in areas particular to the provision of Allied Health Assistant services

- Ability to apply therapy programs as directed by the supervising staff
- Ability to complete allocated tasks promptly and competently
- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to monitor, evaluate and modify own performance
- Computer skills including use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel

IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare sector are required to be fully (3 doses) vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.

We are well aware our hospital is aging but are excited at the news that our new state of the art hospital and public aged care facility is coming. A 23.6 hectare site at Lardners Track in Drouin East was acquired by West Gippsland Healthcare Group for a future hospital back in 2007. The new hospital is set to feature 233-beds and 33 emergency department treatment spaces as well as aged care and an expanded maternity facility.

All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia. A six month probationary period applies to all new appointments.
