An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Learning and Development Unit at West Gippsland Healthcare Group in the role of Clinical Educator for the Maternity unit.  This is a Permanent full-time/part-time position for two or more successful candidates.

Reporting to the Learning and Development Manager, you will work within a motivated and dedicated team that provides support to the organisation over a wide range of education and development services, including but not limited to, in-service education, development and delivery of training programs, competency assessments, supervision of student placements and staff development education. 

This would also entail working with the Learning and Development Unit to provide support within the Maternity unit via hands-on teaching, mentoring and guidance to all Midwives including Graduate Midwives, Postgraduate Midwifery students and Registered Midwives and Nurses to further develop:

  • Supernumerary supported time in Birth Suite, antenatal assessment and Postnatal
  • Support for acquisition of clinical skills including vaginal examination, artificial rupture of membranes, speculum examination, perineal suturing, application of fetal scalp clip, balloon catheter insertion, newborn examination and IV Cannulation. 

We are seeking expressions of interest from motivated, experienced and enthusiastic people with a passion for learning and development to work collaboratively in providing high-quality learning opportunities, using a range of modalities that support and enable participants to practice as safe, confident and accountable professionals.

This stimulating role would suit an experienced Midwife who has clinical expertise in the area of Maternity and Women’s Health and is flexible, solutions-focused, committed to quality, willing to accept a challenge and enjoys working within a team that is dedicated to providing great service to their client group.

 

Our preferred candidate will have:

  • Registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA
  • Extensive post-registration experience, of no less than 5 years
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or relevant tertiary qualification in education and support
  • Post Graduate Qualification in education or working towards (highly desirable)
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience across the pregnancy and birth continuum
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • High-level clinical skills across the continuum of pregnancy.
  • Knowledge of contemporary midwifery issues
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:

  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel

 

IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare sector are required to be fully (3 doses) vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.

The new hospital is set to feature 233 beds and 33 emergency department treatment spaces as well as aged care and an expanded maternity facility.

Working with us

All appointments with the West Gippsland Healthcare Group are subject to the satisfactory return of professional reference checks, an NDIS worker screening clearance and a current Employee Working with Children Check. All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia. A six-month probationary period applies to all new appointments.
